If I’m lgbtq and living in Brooklyn New York City am I likely to become a victim of a hate crime?
I’m biologically male and I identify as lgbtq and queer. I’m thinking of moving to Brooklyn New York City in 2 years. In the summer I wear women’s short shorts and shave my legs. Is Brooklyn lgbtq friendly?

Maybe not hate crimes, but you'll most likely encounter ignorance and intolerance from close-minded folks. Brooklyn is very LGBTQ-friendly, as is the rest of NYC
Brooklyn NY is an ethnically diverse area, so there is now a history of tolerance for people of different backgrounds. But then again, Brooklyn has been the site of many race riots back in the 60's too, so who knows? Chances are more likely that they will tolerate you in this day and age.
According the Gay Real Estate webpage, Brooklyn and Queens are both very LGBT-friendly.
