If I’m lgbtq and living in Brooklyn New York City am I likely to become a victim of a hate crime?

I’m biologically male and I identify as lgbtq and queer.

I’m thinking of moving to Brooklyn New York City in 2 years.

In the summer I wear women’s short shorts and shave my legs.

Is Brooklyn lgbtq friendly?

Maybe not hate crimes, but you'll most likely encounter ignorance and intolerance from close-minded folks. Brooklyn is very LGBTQ-friendly, as is the rest of NYC

Brooklyn NY is an ethnically diverse area, so there is now a history of tolerance for people of different backgrounds. But then again, Brooklyn has been the site of many race riots back in the 60's too, so who knows? Chances are more likely that they will tolerate you in this day and age.

According the Gay Real Estate webpage, Brooklyn and Queens are both very LGBT-friendly.

You "identify" as it, eh? So that means you're straight with a cross dressing fetish.

It's called "Brooklyn", or "Brooklyn, New York", not "Brooklyn New York City". "New York City" refers to the Island of Manhattan only.

As for the rest of it, many parts of Brooklyn are lgbtq friendly, and it's unlikely you would be the victim of a hate crime in those areas.

I don't know if it's called "hate crime" but there'll be problems fo sho!

Best to stay in San Francisco if you can't act normal.

  • It depends where in Brooklyn avoid ghetto areas thats where your chances of being attacked are highest places like Bedford Stuyvesant and Brownsville East New York you should avoid.
