Actually, an app that tracks vote counts and sends those to a small database is basically fancy calculator app.
And if security were a concern, just use the built in https classes in Java (since most phone/tablet apps are made with Java), and transmit the data over an encrypted TLS tunnel.
Such an application should have been easy to build. Yet, Democraps still f**ked it up.
