What kind of parents do you wish you had?

I'm 27 and made it past my abusive childhood. I ask this question for closure.

I wish I had a Dad that wasn't bipolar. No one deserves a bipolar parent. I wish I had someone who had worked and taken care of me. A Dad that hadn't hit me all the time. He has occasionally admitted what he did, but also pushes that it wasn't his fault, or he tries to downplay it.

My Mom was much better, but I do wish she had left my Dad. She says she wishes things had been different

Dwelling on past doesn't help anybody. It will only make you bitter and nurse resentment.

Whatever happened in past wasn't fair to you but consider this, you're alive and lived through it all.

Your past can't decide what your present or future will look like. It's totally up to you to make new beginnings.

Your parents are regretting for not taking care of you well enough.

You don't have any regrets. You survived.

Have a positive outlook on your life from here on.

I just wish i knew what growing up would be like if my parents where together.  Im 33 now.  Mother died at 18.  dads still pretty health so thats good.

But I've never gotten the story as to why they broke up, why i was only allowed to see my dad during the summer as a child.

So to answer your question. I'd like to keep the same parents, but I'd want them to be together if i had a second chance at life.
