Is the petition to remove the statue of Saint Louis an example of religious persecution?

It is an example of historical ignorance.

So, you cannot practice your religion without that statue?  Please explain.

Wait, let's see what the word of God says about the matter?

Deuteronomy 7: 5.But you will do to them like this; you will destroy their altars, you will demolish themstele, you will ravage their sacred woods, you will burn statues in the fireof their gods; because you are the sacred people of the Lord your God, and youchose the Lord your God to be his favorite peopleamong all the peoples that exist on earth.
If you need an iron club to knock down that statue, go to a hardware store, there is a discount!

No.  Religious persecution would be if you were prevented from practicing your religion.  Removing a statue does not in any way affect your right to practice your religion.
