I have a friend who just turned 18, she has a part-time job, lives with her parents, was driving her mom's car to get to work... she got a speeding ticket and an unsafe speed ticket together because she was driving at 90 mph. The total fine is over $500, but she barely makes like $800 a month... can she get her fine reduced? How without spending money on a lawyer? Thanks.

Well, I'm from Washington state, so the specifics here might not apply. However, I have read a few articles and caught a few interesting points for you to consider.
First thing is to remember this, PAYING THE TICKET IS AN ADMISSION OF GUILT.
This is important if your friend doesn't want to take the allegation. You could also, in Washington, challenge the fine and go to court. If the police officer doesn't show up, they will either dismiss the case entirely or can often times get it reduced for you.
Go ahead and read up a bit more on your local laws, but these are some things to consider. Let me know if this helps you at all!

Your "friend" was driving at 90 mph. There's no reason for that. In addition to the fine, your friend's license will be suspended.

Probably not. She can go to court, plead guilty and try playing the "I'm young, stupid and poor" card, but judges generally don't view 18 year olds going that fast over the limit as sympathetic figures.
