Lockdowns being blamed for permanent business closures?

I believe that millions of Americans are blaming the lockdowns because of the coronavirus for permanent business closures.

Yes, Lockdowns that stop shops from opening and earning any money will cause closures.

Millions of Americans are wrong.  An adequate lockdown would get the virus under control so businesses could reopen safely and the closures would not be permanent.  The reasons that businesses have to close permanently is that we did not lock down enough.  However, with no lock down, even more businesses might have closed permanently, because too many employees, customers, or both, would be either sick or dead.

In some cases, the business was close to closing anyway.  But in others, the business was fairly solid before covid.
