Much quicker / more efficient and soldiers were run through like cattle. Seem this would be quicker/ cheaper  to give the Covid vaccinations than the needles. Yes they did sting, but was over and done with in a second.

hamel5  Don't know if they are still used or not. I do think they were / would more efficient and more could get vaccinated in less time. Yes I remember the story. "Don't move, it can slice your arm like a knife".

That silver gun like thingy hurt like a MFer. It's actually called a jet injector. But I remember getting six of them.

Never used in the RAF or the RAAF

Yes,  the chance of cross contamination were high and they only work if you have a vaccine that is not so sensitive to heat.

Yep, if we were on home cycle or shore duty, they would line up the entire squadron on the Weds before Thanksgiving during a Safety Stand-Around, give us our annual flu shot and then send us home to be sick until Monday (of course if you were in 4 section duty, you would have to muster on at least one of those 4 days off to make that much special lib legal)

The problem with that was, it only took one "contagious" person in that line to infect ALL of us and then we dragged it home to our families who may NOT have had the shot yet because they needed an appointment about a month or two in advance at Medical to get one. (Socialized Medicine at it's finest)

Fun Times....
