Why is the name "Grape Soda" considered racist?

This is not intended as a racially charged question.  I read that a horse trainer was charged for naming the horse he was working with "Grape Soda", and that it is considered as a racial slur toward black people.  Would someone enlighten me about that, because I've never heard that before.  Thanks.

I've never heard of that before and didn't realize it was considered offensive. But no matter what you say, some group will always take offense. Guess we better just keep all our words very vanilla-- Ooops!

It isn't.  In today's world, there are way too many wimps claiming everything is offensive and racist.  It's time for them all to GROW UP.

Some people consider EVERYTHING racist.

As has already been pointed out, it's likely because it's a stereotype. Just as watermelon and fried chicken, grape soda is a food/drink associated with some African Americans. Not sure why because,  I like all three too.

I asked several people the same question and no one has any idea about it either!  This is just going too, too far.  Does that mean Dr. Pepper is practicing medicine without a license?  That ought to offend someone too.
