There can still be a trial in Senate on or after Jan 19. Even if trial happens after Biden, the rightful winner of the election, is sworn in , Trump needs to be held accountable; for the wrong that he did on and leading up to Jan. 6 he needs to be unable to run for office again and to be unable to receive the perks of an ex-president.

So he can't hold office, gets no pension, and no secret service protection.

To acknowledge wrongdoing, hold him accountable, and allow Senate to convict him and bar him from holding office in the future

History will remember some Americans tried to do the right thing.
Just like it will remember those who did the wrong thing.
Some people have an eye on their legacy.

I trial can still take place and he can still be permanently barred from holding a federal office.
