Find f(-2), given f(x)=3x^2-5?

im confused what the f(-2) means. I tried solving it by plugging in the -2 into the x values and i got the answer -41 but im not sure if i'm right or not.

my teacher gave me this study guide and this is one part of it that she hasnt even taught us 😂😭

You are correct in substituting in the '-2'
However, when squaring up '(-2)^2 = (+)4
Hence
f(-2) = 3(-2)^2 -5 =>
f(-2) = 3(4) - 5 =>
f(-2) = 12 - 5
f(-2) = 7

f(x) = 3x^2 - 5
f(-2) = 7

f(x) = 3x² - 5

substitute -2 for x
f(-2) = 3(-2)² - 5

f(-2) = 3(4) - 5

f(-2) = 12 - 5

f(-2) = 7 <–––––––
