Why some air purifier brands like Xiaomi and BlueAir claim that their HEPA filters last about 6 months, while some brands like Austin Air for example, claim that HEPA filters last for whole 5 years? Who is lying?

HEPA filters are like any other air filter and need replacing when they won't do their job. Not all purifiers use HEPA filters, instead, they are electrostatic and remove particulate electronically. Those can last years and work or they don't.
