So someone cannot get SSDI and workers comp together as I understand. What would happen if this happened a while ago and someone is faking it? For example someone injured their arms get their able to help out somewhere as well as do photography on the side?

Yes.  If the injury is judged to be permanent, they can collect SSI.

the total amount you can receive is capped.  until worker's comp runs out [if it does], you don't get SSDI on top of that -- worker's comp laws cap the weekly total you receive
