Reduce gun ownership.

Why does the US need over 50% of the privately owned guns worldwide? The gun culture in the US is absolutely bonkers...

People own guns because they’re scared. It remarkable how scared Americans are in comparison to citizens from other developed countries...

How about allow families to commit someone who has mental problems even if
for a month for evaluation like the Colorado shooter or any number of shooters
who's family said they were off.

Instead of banning private sells that have never been tied to shootings unlike
the Colorado shooter who went to a gun shop and passed a background check.

A quick note on Swiss firearms ownership:
Firearms ownership is not MANDATORY in Switzerland, as some would have you believe. Firearms are issued to those Swiss citizens actively serving in the Swiss military or in the military reserve (militia). This currently accounts for ~30% of the Swiss population as . Service personnel (active & reserve) keep their military issue firearm at home. Fun fact - they keep their military issue forearm at home, but aren't issued ammunition with it. Aside from these, the possession of most firearms is controlled in a similar manner to the EU and the rest of western Europe.
So, the major difference between Swiss firearms ownership and that in the US, is that most Swiss gun owners are known to the authorities and fully trained, US gun owners aren't.

I recommend actually ENFORCING the more than 30,000 gun laws we already have on the books ans guarantee criminals prison time for crimes committed.  It worked in Richmond, VA during Operation:Exile.  Passing more laws that criminals will not obey does NOTHING to reduce crime or make anyone safer.

Stop worrying about prison overcrowding.  The crowds are caused by people deciding to become criminals.  Obey the law and you won't need to worry about being crowded. GUARANTEE  criminals prison time without parole and see what happens to crime rates.

hungryjoe, are you admitting that our guns laws aren't "sensible"?  What's wrong with simply enforcing our existing laws?  Never been done but just might work.

The focus should be on reducing DEATHS. What caused the death is irrelevant. A person isn't somehow more dead because they were killed by a gun. When you adjust for race, the US actually has lower murder rates than nearly all of Europe. The only two countries lower are Switzerland and Norway and Switzerland actually has more lenient gun laws than the US. Guns are not only allowed there but MANDATORY.
