Why dont socialist countries try to be capitalist like the worlds sole super power the United States?

I keep reading how the United States should adapt socialist polices of other first world countries.

Thats like saying the A student should copy off the C student.

China and Russia are very much capitalistic countries. Very rich Oligarchs and corporations make most of the decisions in these places. Their laws as just a sham. No one pays any attention to laws. Theirs or ours.

China is trying to become more capitalist -- without allowing the Party to lose control, of course.  Same is happening in Vietnam.

Many of them either have dictator leaders insisting that the people who live in these countries act in a socialist manner as they are easier to control this way. Also there are other countries that just believe that the ways things are run, when ran through a socialist lens jsut work better than they do via capitalism. Capitalism is fredom, and also inefficiency waiting to happen.

You know it's funny.  Just 40 years ago, China was a socialist / communist country and they were incredibly poor.

Then China adopted Capitalism for most sectors of their economy and now over 80% of the population has been lifted out of poverty and they are a very strong country.

Capitalism works when allowed to.  It's a very recent and present example.  Why do so many ignore it?
