Are the english royals more responsible for slavery than slave owners?
The English royals were some of the owner of the East India Company which shipped and sold slaves around the world.
The only reason why a person even had an option to buy a slave was because of corporations like the East India Company selling the product which was owned by the intermarried royal and banking cartel.

You have forgotten the Ottoman Empire, haven't you. Some of the biggest slavers in history, and typically slaves were worked to death. The lucky ones were castrated or their children were murdered, because the Turks didn't want Black slaves reproducing too much. Slavery is still openly practiced in some Islamic countries. Not to justify the East India Company, but they were just doing what humanity had done since prehistory. Thank goodness now it is at least illegal. We still have slavery in the US, but it is illegal and not acknowledged.
Carved in stone in Enna, Sicily, a stone claims slavery to have been outlawed and banned in Sicily since 2,000 years before Lincoln. But, it's in Italian.
