Yes, they seem pretty useless. When you compare the micron size of a virus to the pores in the mask, it's like attempting to block a mosquito with a chain link fence.

I thankfully haven't seen that in my area recently. It's pointless to wear a mask that way, the nose is an entry point for covid.
A facial covering is any thing that will keep your nose and mouth covered. I've noticed some people wearing those gator coverings, or heavy scarves instead of a mask.
