What to wear for mother/daughter ice skating day?

So I've NEVER ice skated in my life, but my daughter has a mother/daughter skating session at the arena. I don't have skating clothes, would wearing this be good to keep me padded and warm or would it be too heavy/too much?

Is it worth it to go ice skating alone?

    Favorite Answer:

Yes! Being by yourself eliminates distractions which means you can work on your skating, which is why you re there!. Work on your stops, try to learn a hockey stop, work on becoming better at using your edges, and start to work on backwards skating. Go, and have a great time!

I want to sign up for skating lessons as a 16 year old? Do I need parents permission or can I just call the rink and sign up myself?

    Favorite Answer:

No you cannot sign yourself up. With registration there should be a part to sign as a waiver. That waiver is saying that if you get hurt you can’t sue and that by signing you’re acknowledging that rule. That needs to be signed by an adult

And don’t listen to that idiot Chris A, you CAN NOT teach yourself how to skate properly

Tips for figure skating competitions (how to prepare, how to calm nerves ect)?

Hi so i’m camden and i’m 17. i had a vERY late start to skating, i only started in may of 2018 so it hasn’t even been a whole year yet. i am doing pretty good though all things considered. I’m going to an intensive skating camp over the summer in Prague and after my next competition (which is this saturday) we’re going to move me up from alpha to freestyle 1 (know that’s 3 levels but i know i can do it). aNyWaYs, my very first competition is this saturday and i am so so nervous. not entirely about how well i’m going to do, that is, because i know where i’m at and i know that i’m good for my level of experience. but mainly i’m just so nervous about what everyone else will think since i’m not as high of a level as everyone else my age. when i’m on the ice doingy routine, i am going to be the spotlight, the center of attention at the competition for that minute and a half, they’re going to see everything i do, see my poor but improving technique and aGh i’m just super nervous thanks in advance for any help

How can I tell my friend that I don't want to do roller skating lessons anymore?

Back in early summer last year my friend said that she is really interested and keen to take up roller skating and she asked me if I would like to join. Back then I was curious and as I use to roller skate as a kid I thought why not dig up an old hobby. So we decided to take lessons that would take place at a roller rink that is a 50 min drive away (that's the nearest one) and the lessons would take place at 9 am on a Sunday.

Back when we decided to do this I didn't think anything of it, we take turns driving there and the lessons are £5.

But now I'm not enjoying it. Getting up at stupid a clock and driving for 50 mins on the motorway on a Sunday is not something that I want to do anymore. £5 a week for me, as a student, is adding up to be expensive and I could save this money for something else like food or rent.

I just don't know how to tell my friend that I'm not interested anymore. Every week she is like "can't wait for skating" or "I'm glad we do this skating thing, gives us a break from uni work" or "I'm really enjoying skating" and I just sit there thinking I'm not enjoying it at all. I mean I was at first but now not at all.

With her expressing how much she loves skating I just don't know how to tell her that I'm not, I don't want to hurt her feelings!

What should I do should I just tell her?

How to bring off-ice personality on the ice?

    Favorite Answer:

Play music you like/are comfortable with, to your next lesson. Interpret it, be it vocal or instrumental.

Don't worry about "looking silly" or being self-conscious. Go with the vocals, or instrumentation.

I've seen so many skaters just skate their programs, and not have fun afterwards. Skating doesn't have to be serious all the time. Good luck!

Is it possible to ice skate really well if you have a leg or hip disability?

    Favorite Answer:

It depends how bad your leg is, but if you practice hard then I don't see why you could not skate well.

My knee hurts after sit spins?

    Favorite Answer:

Are you new to sit spins? The muscle around your knee might not be strong enough yet to support a sit spin if you’re new to them. If you’ve been doing them for a while and this pain is new then you should consider seeing your doctor to rule out injury.
