What authors should I look for if I like Michael Crichton and Dan Brown?
What I like about their books is that they're all page-turners and I always feel like I'm learning something (though much of it may be fictionalized and controversial...). Can you suggest a couple names?

Similar fast-paced, page-turning authors include:
John Grisham, Ken Follett, and David Baldacci
To find more authors that you enjoy, try to narrow down the genre that you like... if you prefer books that tend towards the CIA or FBI, or small-town murders, or legal-thrillers, or treausre hunts then go to Amazon.com and become a member. This gives you the ability to rate books. Look up several of your favorite books and then see what other people bought who bought those books. Also make sure to rate as many books as you have read and then Amazon will give you custom ideas of similar books. I have found some great stuff this way. Good Luck!

Robin Cook writes informative, fact-based medical thrillers - always page turners!
Dean Koontz's books are sometimes based on fact, too, and he's got a great knack for storytelling.

Yeah. . .check out Umberto Eco. Also, there's a book named "Cryptonomicon" that you might like. Also, Tom Clancy writes a lot along those same veins, but he gets cheesy real quick.
Check out "Foucalt's Pendulum."
