OK, that seems too short for a Yahoo!.ANSWERS answer. But it must be obvious, giving the hugebuttedness of the nation, that they are. They really should be either illegal to sell (like drugs) or taxed heavily (like cigarettes) since they severely affect the health, productivity and future of the nation.

Fried foods are often high in saturated fat and thus raise your LDL cholesterol levels, which leads to higher blood pressure and contributes to blocked arteries. So, yes, fried foods are not good for your cardiovascular health.

Oil as such is not bad for your health, but is infact necessary for your body. Oil which is not heated consists unsaturation (carbon-carcon double bonds). On frying (heating in general actually), these double bonds get hydrogenated and the oil becomes saturated. Such saturated oil is not good for the health.

It depends on the number of calories you burn!! If you burn more calories then you can have them safely ofcourse fried foods are always tasty ;)
