My husband is allergic to animals, yet we want a pet . . . please help?

Any ideas on hypo- allergenic, non shedding dogs would be greatly appreciated by my three children who want a pet. Thank You

Update:

We have some fish and two Iguanas, we have also had a Pot Bellied Pig, but our Home-owners association was down on that (she is with family), the kids really want a dog.Oh, and I think I have to keep my hubby so ditching him is outta the question . . . lol

    here's an interesting link:

    http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Hypoallergeni...

As it states, Hypoallergenic means less reaction, but not "No" reaction. You may take hubby to play with the new pup before purchasing.

Shaving a dog doesn't tend to help, the oils and dander are still produced, which is what causes problem with most people.

    Good luck!

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. Not officially hypoallergenic but pretty much zero shedding, or few people are allergic to. Also, fantastic personality.

    Otherwise fish.

Chihuahua's are good pets for people with allergies. They are also known to help people with asthma.

My cousin had asthma when he was little and hisdoctor recomended them getting a chihuahua. They've had one ever since and my cousin has no asthma. P.S. I think I'm spelling chihuahua wrong.
