How can we teach our 2 doxies not to run off when the get out of house?
The mom is 3 years old and given to us. She thinks she is a hunter( I realise she is bred for hunting) but will not stop when called. She just keeps going! Her pup is one year old and does the same thing When we go camping they have to stay tied up and our other 2 get to be untied because they stay right with us. I hate them being tied all the time.

I know it seems cruel, but the InvisiFence shock collar system teaches them very quickly and after a week or two you can use a dummy collar that will never shock the dogs but works because the dogs have learned their lesson.

This will take about three weeks but it works. I have seen it and done it.
Everyday for three weeks take your god on a leash around the edge of your yard. Don't get to close to roads or drive ways. Walk around the yard a couple of times. Dogs tend to be territorial so once the dog gets an idea of where it's territory is they are more likely to stay in it.
I have three dogs and one was inherited from my father in law back in June. She has already learned where she can go and not go. She is 9 years old. I didn't use any kind of punishment. Just did it everyday. What is funny is if you throw a ball and it goes outside that area she will not go after it. She sits at the edge until you bring it to her.

whats wrong is that the dog has alot of energy. you need to let it out more. first you need to teach it to listen to you in close quaters. then you can graduately move on. hold in your hand someting it love. ie. treats, toy, anything. use that to call it. my dog knows a special whisle when i want his to come. you have to trust it so it trust you. it takes time and dedication.
