2200 cubic feet? about how big of a standard room (8ft ceiling) is that?

I need to know cus i just won an air purifier on E-Bay and it says it does 2200 cubic feet but its been a while since I've had to do volumes so I really am not sure i remember how correctly.

my guess is it would be about 16'6" by 16'6" by 8'

give or take is my math about right?

If you want to consider also rectangular rooms, your room may fit some of these possibilities:

    1) 11 x 25 (= exactly 275)

    2) 12 x 23 ( almost equal to 275)

    3) 13 x 21 ( almost equal to 275)

    4) 14 x 19,5 (almost equal to 275)

    5) 15 x 18,3 ( almost equal to 275)

These, added to your 16,6 x 16,6 should give you a good range of choices to which your room may fit.

Also to consider that the technical specifics of a technical device never exactly follow pure mathematics: so the 2200 cubic feet is always to be read "+ or - epsilon". That's why you don't need to bother to inch errors in your walls' lenght.

For these measurements, it doesn't matter what the height of your room is. The measurement is in square feet, which is length x width (the floor area of the room). I would think that the manufacturer would assume a room height of 8 ft, since that is the standard height for most homes. Since your walls are only 7 feet tall (hope your baby doesn't grow up to be a basketball player!), I would think that the purifiers would work over a slightly larger area (about 2500 sq ft). Before going ahead, I would do two things: double-check the manufacturer's numbers (if they are in CUBIC feet, then as earlier posters have mentioned, 2200 cubic feet covers a 16x16 room), and measure the walls (I'll bet they're 8 feet tall).

If by "standard," you mean roughly "square," then yep, your estimate is good.

But any rectangular room (with an 8-foot ceiling) whose area = 275 sq feet would also have your desired volume. There are many possibilities for the length x width, such as

    11 ft x 25 ft

    12 1/2 ft x 22 ft

    13 3/4 ft x 20 ft

    15 ft x 18 1/3 ft

    to name just a few.

2200 Cubic Feet To Square Feet

The formula for Volume is (Length)x(height)*(Width)

    Let X = Length = Width =

    X^2 * 8 = 2200

    X = 16.58 or approx 16'7''

Your very close; off by about 1 inch.

Your math is close a room 16'6"by 16'6" has 272.25 square ft.A 2200 cubit ft. room with a 8' ceiling has 275 square ft.

close enough. 275 square feet. or, using your dimensions, it would be 16'6" by 16'8" by 8'
