A bunch of stuff to do in San Diego here http://daytrippen.com/sandiego.html
If you don't have a car you can ride the red trolley around and get to most places it even goes all the way to the border. Old town has some nice resturants and is just a couple of minutes away from downtown via the trolley. Try Anthony's Fish Grotto for a great fish lunch or dinner it's right on the bay near the train station.

The Gas Light district is where to eat. There are dozens of restaurants all in a row.
Horton Plaza is the main mall there. A nice walk 'round on a sunny day.
Finally, San Diego does boast one of the best zoos in the world, if you're into zoo's.

Rent a luxury convertible and drive around the coast. Top of the Hyatt in Down Town is a great place for a view and a drink.
