How to make DVD from mini DV?

Okay, we're assuming that you have the computer hardware that you need - a pretty fast computer with a firewire port (IEEE 1394) and a DVD burner.

You really need some software to accomplish your tape-to-DVD conversion. You need to connect your camcorder to the computer (insert videotape with the footage) and launch the software. The software should have "import" buttons that will allow you to copy the video and audio onto the computer hard drive. Then you can cut, rearrange, add graphics, transitions, etc. as you desire. Then you insert a blank DVD into the drive, and burn the DVD. The software will probabaly have a way to create cool DVD menus, just like professional DVDs.

A good software program to use (if you are a hobbyist) would be Adobe Premiere Elements, which is $85 at Amazon.com.

You also need to make sure you have a DVD player (your home DVD player connected to your TV) that will play recorded DVDs - DVD+R and/pr DVD-R. Some home DVD players will play both, some will play only one, and some older players will play neither. Your computer DVD BURNER dictates which kind of blank DVDs (+ or -) you will buy and burn.
