Requirerments to become a Dealer at a Casino?

I live in Las Vegas and started in the casino business as a dealer. To answer your questions:

No, you don't have to go to college to become a dealer. You are not even required to go to dealer's school here in Vegas. However, some of the other gaming markets require you to complete dealer's school. I recommend taking Craps, Blackjack, and Baccarat. Don't bother with the other games, it's a waste of money...the casinos will train you how to deal the other games.

What you should be good at? Number one, you should be able to handle criticism, rude people, and be able to smile.

There is no min. for attending dealer's school. Go for as long as it takes for you to learn the games.

I went to casino school for six weeks four hours a day five days a week to take dice/craps lessons,at the same place people were learning blackjack,roullette and caribbean poker.As someone mention in here it is very stressful work and you have to tolerate the worst harrassment and abuse from the patrons as they will spit on you call you names ridicule you and the casino will always be on the customers side.this job is not for married individuals for you will wind up divorced,the salary is low but the tips made at the end of the shift are more than some people make in a week,even with all that its not worth it.One more thing,in casino,if you are a craps dealer you are like the top of the scale in casino dealers

Most large casinos will require you go to dealer school.

You'll want to know the rules of the game in which you are dealing and have the ability to explain the rules to a patron. Also, quick adding is a must for blackjack. Quick what is 8 + 7 ? You'll need to know the answer quick. If you're wanting employment in the USA, the ability to speak and write English is a requirement.

You should be quick, know the rules of the games and dealer conduct, perceptive, honest and go through a rigorous interview process, often including psychometric testing. Then, if you get the job, there will be several video cameras and people behind your back, watching your every move to make sure you stay honest.

Some/most casinos train their own dealers. Highly stressful career, I'd advise you against it.
