what can happen if you use non sushi grade fish for sushi?

I heard that bad things can happen if you use non sushi grade fish without cooking it. I thought sushi grade fish meant the taste and the texture. the overall quality of the fish. not that it means the difference as to wether or not you get sick from it. can somone please shed some light on this for me. I want to make sushi myself but I don't know where in the Worcester Mass area to find Sushi grade fish. the only fish place i know of doesn't have it.

Eating non-sushi grade fish = bad idea. Try finding a place online to order it. I just wouldn't recommend trying sushi that wasn't up to par. Put it this way, would you go to a sushi bar and order something that said "non-sushi grade sushi?"

Only trained professionals in the food industry should handle preparing raw meats. There are so many food borne illnesses from raw fish that chances are you will end up puking or crapping like mad after you have finished your "sushi" Your best bet is to buy it from the groccery store or do what I do and see if there are any specialized markets buy you.

If you use non-sushi grade fish chances are you risk a parasite infestation in your gut or getting violently ill from other harmful bacteria. There are nasty little parasite worms in raw fish such as hook worm, that attach themselves to your intestinal tract, they can make you really sick and are hard to get rid of.If I were you,I would not take the risk!

Why not use non-raw ingredients in your sushi? There are plenty of varieties of sushi that don't include raw fish. I've never had a serious case of food poisoning, but people who've had it say they wish they hadn't!

You might get food poisoning! Sushi grade fish is very fresh.

You'll regret it bitterly as you try to live through a nightmarish few hours to days. Be careful.
