Does corn have any nutritional value?
Recently I heard a nutritionist on the news say that corn has no nutritional value. I have never heard that before. She said it is the number one undiagnosed food allergy and your body dosen't properly digest it either. This was a surprise. I thought corn was a healthy vegetable choice and one that my kids love.

Although corn is higher in protein content than any other vegetable, it lacks the essential amino acids lysine and tryptophan.
To create a complete protein, with all of the essential amino acids, corn can be combined with legumes (beans, lentils, or split peas). Legumes contain high levels of lysine and tryptophan. By combining the two, (a grain and a legume) you create a complete non-animal source of protein.

Corn does have nutritional value. From what I know, it is a great source of protein, carbs as well as fibre. I don't know about allergies or about the body not digesting it. Probably something to do with starch? But sweet corn that we have today has less strach. Eitherways, I know corn does have good nutritional value. Hope someone else can second that!

Yes it has nutritional value. It is a complex carbohydrate that is high in fiber and vitamins. Different varieties of corn do vary somewhat in vitamins, and fiber, etc. But, corn has nutritional value. However, corn allergies are often undiagnosed. But, if a problem with corn exists, it is probably an allergy or intolerance to gluten, which means no wheat/rice/grain/etc.

I heard that corn is a good source of omega 3 fatty acids, as well as fiber. I doubt the claim that it has zero nutritional value.
