Why do JW's use the name Jehova instead of YHWH ?

I am not trying to slam their religion, but I don't understand why in their writings they admit to Yahweh being the name of God and replace it anyway when they feel the proper name is so important. Should't they call themselves Yahwehs witnesses?

Almost everyong accepts the King James Bible, the name is mentioned four times, why not look at Exodus 6:3  And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. KJ Bible

Psalms 83:18  That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. KJ Bible

The other two are found in: Isaiah 12:2  Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. KJ Bible

Isaiah 26:4  Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: KJ Bible

THIS IS THE REASON WE USE THE NAME "JEHOVAH" BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS THAT IS HIS NAME.

The American Standard Version Bible has the name Jehovah in it thousands of time.

However, consistency favors Jehovah. In what way? The pronunciation Jehovah has been accepted in English for centuries. Those who object to using this pronunciation should also object to the use of the accepted pronunciation Jeremiah and even Jesus. Jeremiah would need to be changed to Yir·meyah´ or Yir·meya´hu, the original Hebrew pronunciations, and Jesus would become Ye·shu´a` (Hebrew) or I·e·sous´ (Greek). Hence, many Bible students, including Jehovah’s Witnesses, feel that consistency favors the use of the already well-known English-language “Jehovah” and its equivalent in other languages.

HARRISON FORD HAD TO SPELL THE NAME "JEHOVAH" IN ONE OF HIS MOVIES IN ORDER TO ESCAPE A TRAP THAT WOULD HAVE COST HIM HIS LIFE. THE NAME HAS BEEN USED FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS IN THE ENGLIGH LANGUAGE.

IN MANY PARTS OF THE WORLD, YOU FIND THE NAME ON COINS, BUILDINGS, STATUTES, TOMBSTONES, ETC.

I don't know about Jehovah's Witnesses, but Jehovah is the Latin transcription of the Hebrew "Yod, Heh, Vau, Heh" or I/J/Y, H, U/V/W, H. Latin pronounced the J like an I or Y and the V like a U or W, so the sound is "Yehowah" -- not so different, just provides the vowels. The modern English pronunciation is just pronouncing what is written rather than what was originally intended. The Spanish Jehová (Hheobá) is even further away.

The Hebrew scriptures were written without vowels, so scholars have to guess where the vowels go to figure out the words. Add to that the fact that the Jews won't pronounce the Holy Name, so it is even harder to guess the correct vowels for this particular word. Most scholars now agree that YaHWeH is correct, but you can put in different vowels, i.e. YeHoVaH, and this is not really that uncommon. (Y and J are the same, W and V are the same, since they have less letters than we do.)

Since the Jewish alphabet had no vowels, it's unclear even to this day how the exact pronunciation of God's name was, but it has been widely accepted that "Jehovah" is a reasonable interpretation. But the fact remains that God's personal name was in the original manuscripts and texts of the Bible over 7,000 times before absurd Jewish superstition took hold of some translators and they began to remove it. In any case, Jehovah's Witnesses look to Jesus Christ as their exemplar. Jesus himself said he came to make known his father's name. I believe it was the Apostle Paul who said, in Romans 10:13-15, that "all who call on the name of Jehovah will be saved", and that how can people call on him if they do not have faith? And how can they put faith in him if they do not know of him? That's where Jehovah's Witnesses come in. They help people to come to know just who Jehovah God is, how he considers them personally, and what he tells us through his word the Bible that will allow us to have a relationship with Him.

YHVH: The four letter tetragrammaton (Greek, 'four letters') is the true name of the God of the Hebrew scriptures. Its pronunciation is considered to have great power, and is never spoken aloud, save for once a year, in the inner sanctuary of the Temple during the rites of Yom Kippur. In written scripture, it is given the vowel markings and pronuciation of the word Adonai, lord, leading to the common Christian MISPRONUNCIATION of the name as Jehovah. In Judaism, the tetragrammaton is commonly referred to as "HaShem," The Name.

The actual name is from the Hebrew language. To know what the meaning is you need to refer to Hebrew.

It is not pronounced because out of respect for the Name.

It is not one Word but the representation of three Words. How it is written dependents on the Language used.

I've wondered that myself, since Yahweh sounds so much prettier and more majestic. We call foreign leaders and dignitaries by their real names, not the English equivilant. Shouldn't we give our Creator that same respect?

I believe that Jehova is the english spelling of Yehweh. Kind of like Micheal and Miguel

    "Grace unto you", and peace,

"from God our Father" and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Perhaps JWs are playing "their part",

of two parts: "their part" vs "your part":

    http://www.godshew.org/TheirPartYourPart.htm

Not knowing "their" end shall be accoring to "their" works:

    Grace + Law(added) is as Life + Death(added) = Dead End.

"Your part" is "make he on the contrary part ashamed",

and notably do it without also making yourself ashamed.

It's tricky, but it's do-able when "led of the Spirit".

Hint: Pauline espistles all open & close with "grace".

What's sandwiched in between is simply a discussion.

Their 'Jehovah' is certainly not "merciful".

Provoke such a little, get saved + destroyed.

As happened to "them" all, as noted in Jude 5.

Forgive "them", for "they know not" what they do?

For "as in Adam (as in "them": Gen 5) all die".

Seventh day God ended blessed & sanctified, then rested.

For God knows you can't get any rest with in-laws around.

It's now AD ww, and AD-> notably only goes one way.

Love(God) of Christ "constraineth" us to go that way.

To wit: that God was in "Christ" reconciling the world,

notably the Christ of Jesus->Christ: the end of the law.

    Let's remember JWs are "brethren",

even if they are ignorant brethren.

Best way to destroy an enemy is make such a friend,

then perhaps reason together, as friends do reason.

It's really no matter, for "the end" is already written,

and there's no "them" at all in grace us "us-ward" end,

which the Lord is now that Spirit is longsuffering unto,

as if such an end "run" is a run along "with patience",

unto the Revelation clarity of perfection ment'd in Heb.

The "grace" of our Lord "Jesus Christ" with you all. Amen.

GodShew: www leader for "us-ward" end has no them at all

Source(s): Holy Bible is not Holy Holy in "the end" is already written.
