he shot his friend harry whittington on a hunting trip, it was an accident but the guy had to go to the hospital, where he had a mild heart attack. he's doing okay now though. there wasn't a reason, he just didn't see his friend before he shot.

He's seventy-something years old, wears glasses, has suffered like 10 heart attacks since being a vice president, and he's trying to shoot birds. If bin laden was hiding in the woods, Cheney would shoot him unknowingly before he shot a bird. Blind men running the country can't shoot straight either.

He shot his friend Harry Whittington. Why?
I suspect he was drunk - why else would they turn away the police who came to investigate? To let the alcohol leave his bloodstream, is my guess.
On another note, it must be nice to be able to just tell police "No, I don't want to talk to you" after you've SHOT A GUY IN THE FACE. I bet if I tried that they'd be like "Uh, no."
