How do I get a job as a Canadian Citizen in Washington, DC?
Well, here it is:
My boyfriend lives near DC, and we aren't ready to be married - but I would like to be in that area.
Are there any effective cover letters out there that anyone could suggest for a Canadian Citizen looking to get a work visa out of a prominent company in DC?
The additional trouble here is that I've not gone to college, nor do I plan to until I have a job in the States.
Is there *any* way to get a job legally and move over there?
...lol, okay, I misworded myself. Although being a Canadian Citizen as a position would be pretty sweet.

I don't think it's easy for you to go to D.C. and work there.
Unless:
1. The company you are working got another company in D.C. and they want you to get there and work, they will help you to get the work permit to get there.
2. You try to apply job in D.C. which the company will promise you to get you a work permit and help you with all the legal documents.
3. You marry to your boyfriend and move there, and start the whole process of getting a greencard or work permit... it's very hard to deal with INS right now, you may wait a long time for that.

Why not look at a position where it won't mater what citizenship you have or where you are - work for yourself - if you are interested in finding out how hundreds of Thousands of US and Canadian citizens are working for themself send me an email at jdriley@nb.sympatico.ca I will send you the info... then make your decision from there.

i think its going to be tough but why dont you guys just get married and it will be much easier for you to get into the states

apply for citizen ship. you are from canada, they won't turn you down unless they see a real reason to.
