It's free, and though somewhat cluttered with popup ads, it DOES have what I've found the best/nicest class of people of any chat program - partly because they "police" things well, and give plenty of authority and control to chat room owners.

(I must admit 90% of their income/support probably comes from their large "adult" section, BUT that is filtered away with one click, so u never even know it's there, and can just congregate with and enjoy all the thousands of "decent" folks. :-)

I'm probably on different hours than you, like most people back home, because of deployment, so I don't chat to much anymore, but I do write people back and am a sure thing when it comes to an intelligent discussion in e-mail format. I like to write people back home too because it reminds me of how life is going on back over there. Try rooms with a topic other than "Romance". Politics and Government is a good category, along with Automotive. Just keep looking around and you will find some good rooms. They are out there.

Reality is, you can't escape them. Chat programs are breeding grounds for filthy minded perverts. Ignore those you come across, and every now and again you will meet somebody who makes coming into Yahoo! chat worthwhile.

you should try the regional rooms there ar lost of people from other countryes but you should take care the indians,philipine and arab ones are not verry pleasant to talk with
