Like Sarcastik and others, I'VE QUIT Y!A, as it's become a meaningless place for kids who love to squabble. 24 Apr 06. R.I.P. :-(

  • Yahoo Phone IN - is anyone USING it ?

I've been using PhoneOut for 2 months now (with absolutely no problem at all!).

And I understand that last week the whole http://voice.yahoo.com/ was opened up to USA as well as the 8 "test" countries that have been using it.

But PhoneIn - it seems they currently offer base numbers in only THREE cities in the whole world: N.Y., San Fran, and London (with Paris also listed, but showing Unavailable).

Does anyone have any idea when the city list might be expanding ?

And I'd be interested to hear from anyone who uses it as is anyway - just to know if they love/hate it etc. ;-)

  • Info on William Clausen, folk singer, 1960s?

    I've googled with scant success.

I think he was English, and toured New Zealand in mid-60s, folk and/or comic singer -

Mainly known for "I know An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly" (also done by Burl Ives and Peter Paul & Mary).

ANY info - even hazy memories - would be appreciated. :-)

  • Does Y!Search have a similar facility to Google's "Archived page"?

If not for this lack I'd switch, but so many sites I search no longer exist, but Google can still show me the page as at their last crawl.

I wouldn't like to lose such facility, but can't find it in Yahoo search. :-(

  • BCC - doesn't show in Sent Mail !?

I'm comfortable sending with BCC, but then it seems (in Yahoo mail, and ALSO actually in Thunderbird that I use too) there is no way to see that field again when viewing it in "Sent".

The index page shows only To, Subject, Date, Size - and clicking on the specific item then shows only Date, From Subject, To.

This seems absurd ! Surely I am missing some necessary option ?

  • Watch List - over 100 items ?

I'm troubled by a bug in Answers.

To help localise/identify it, please post details here only if:

    (A) Your Watch List has ever mysteriously dropped from something over 100 down to exactly 100.

    ..OR..

    (B) You've ever been online here at Answers at around 5am PDT (8am EST) AND had over 100 on your list then. (Then, can you be sure your number STAYED above 100, or not sure ?)

(BACKGROUND):- From repeated experiences here, I believe - until/unless proven otherwise - that anyone(?) online at 5am and with over 100, will suddenly find many of them vanish permanently, leaving just exactly 100 remaining. :-((

  • My Watch List - limited to 100 ??

It seems there's some sort of maximum of 100 entries in My Watch List !?!?

Sure, I can add more - it was up to about 160 at one time, but every time within 12-24 hours I find it has been reduced back to just 100. :-((

If I exceed that, I can log out then return and it's still over. And I've established that it doesn't get set back at midnight PST (which I thought a possibility).

It SEEMS that perhaps the first time I log in after around 5am-11am PST THAT'S when I find it's been cut back.

Has anyone ANY clues as to what's going on here ???

(I like to keep all questions that I've answered, and are still unresolved, on my Watch List so I can keep track of the outcomes - hence the large number).

  • "Invite to Y!360" OR "View Y!360 Page" - WHICH?

In YM when I hover on a friend's name it'll say one of the above 2 phrases.

Fine, but in many (most!!?) cases when I know that friend DOES have a 360 page, to which I have easy access via my 360 Friends, or their simple-URL, it still says "Invite...".

This even applies with my OWN name on my YM list, and I sure have a 360 page.

Can anyone tell me why ?

  • voice.yahoo.com (PC-to-Phone). Which countries?

NO, I DON'T want to know which countries you can call TO.

I want to know which countries it is now available for use in.

I believe http://voice.yahoo.com/ (PhoneOut) is operational already in Denmark, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand - but NOT yet in USA.

I think there are about another 5 or 6 countries that have it too - can anyone tell me (preferably with "Source"!) ?

(BTW, it works just great for me, here in N.Z.! :-))

  • Spontaneous reboots - caused by HDD ?

My PC would occasionally restart itself, at any time regardless of what program I might be in. I've solid virus/spyware protection, so ruled those out.

Over a year these sudden reboots became more frequent, till it would almost start rebooting in middle of a reboot!

Useless, so... I switched the HD (with all my data) to another PC (which had always worked fine). I also made a fresh partition on it where I installed a fresh XP-SP2 plus minimal software, leaving all the original data (including original XP, no longer "active") on the original partition.

All seemed well - so I figured somehow the motherboard in #1 PC must have been at fault.

But now, occasionally, I find PC#2 doing the same thing. :-(

Question - is it possible/likely that either some data, or SOMETHING associated directly with a physical HD, could cause something like this - random reboots ?

  • How to permanently disable my Caps Lock key ?

On desktops I wrench the cursed thing off and throw it away. But now I have a nice laptop (or "notebook" as they seem to now be called) I want to simply disable that key via software, so touching it will have no effect.

There must be a way ... no matter how technical!? ;-)
