What is the A.C.L.U?

The American Civil Liberties Union. It is a nonprofit organization & they have an extensive web site that can fill you in on their mission & works. From the responses that you receive, I think that you will be able to "piece together" that this organization has many strong supporters and detractors. It is quite interesting to me how some organizations can elicit these types of "extreme" responses. Good luck with your research on the ACLU.

The former Soviet Union was a rigid dictatorship. But if you were to read their constitution, it was even more liberal than ours! The ACLU is one of the reasons that freedom is real in the United States, much more so than it was in the USSR. All the pretty words on paper mean nothing unless someone can stand up and defend against violations, and THAT means nothing unless someone WILL. That someone in our country is the ACLU.
