Matthew 6:1-4 (motive must be pure)

1 "Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

2 "So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

3 "But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

4 so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

James 1:25 (intent must be followed by correct action)

25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

    James 2:15-16

15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,

16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?

The right action with the wrong motive and intent is sin.

    Acts 4:32-5:11

It sounds good but I have to say

2 of 3 still makes it pretty good

    motive 1 intent 1 action 0 - no blame

motive 1 intent 0 action 1 - action came out well

motive 0 intent 1 action 1 - action came out well
