For spyware solutions, Spybot Search & Destroy works very well. If you are willing to try Microsoft's beta, you can also consider defender. Both are currently free.

Before scanning, update your spy definitions first.

Always remember that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. That said, do not visit unknown websites, open suspicious emails and attachments, or click on links that you don’t know what it’s for. Also, always keep your anti-spyware and antivirus programs on. These simple guidelines will save you from hours of headaches with pop-up ads and computer slow down.

Good luck and have a nice day!

    Download Ad-aware by Lavasoft(great program & free)

You can use it along with the spybot, update or download a newer version of spybot, some of the older versions won't let you update.Depending if you have Windows XP you can also download Spyware Blaster (it runs on 98,but you need visual basic 6)

AVG is a great Antivirus and it's free also

All these programs run fine with each other

It's sad that we have to run so many spyware programs just to surf the net!

There are anti-spyware programs that are bogus, but also good ones. Get Spybot Search and Destroy. It does a very good job. You're a bit misinformed about cookies. A cookie is just a small text file in your computer. When you go to a website it asks your computer if it has a file for that site. If you allowed one to be written, then your computer lets the site read it and your user info is available to that site. It does NOT monitor your travels and report back. It's a file, not a program.

Make sure all of your virus and spyware definitions are upto date and scan with each product then the next. If they don't detect the threat check symantecs website for a removal tool or instructions on manual removal. You will also have to shut down any programs such as go back or windows restore that record system states that allow you to return to a previous configuration.

Hi! I have a few good programs (that I have been trying thoroughly over the past few months) that are great for removing pesky spyware from your pc. Either of the following two would work fine:

    Spybot Search and Destroy:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/

    Lavasoft Adaware Personal Edition:

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Also, in the upcoming version of Windows (named Vista), there is a chance we may have antispyware software integrated at no extra fee! (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/s... )

And finally, CCleaner (CrapCleaner) is a great freeware programming for deleting junk files, effectively speeding up some areas of your PC that can slow it done over time.

Good luck, you won't regret using these programs.
