I live in california my apt is falling apart Igot craks in walls you can see out of do you think it safe?

I live upstairs I got craks even above my bed the gasline pushing out the side of my wall I sleep on there talking about tairing down the building in 6 months but not for sure and the owners aint saying anything to us tenants there 3inch cracks next to windows you can stick your fingers thruogh you can even see the road thruogh my apt am not sure what my rights are about this I think it a hazard and dangerous exspecially with young childern but our owners asure us its not I think there just trying to rid of everyone so they dont have to pay to move us please help us we need some thanks
