What does it mean if you dream about graveyards?

My friend dreamed that she was walking over graves. It was sunny outside. There were lots of trees and a lake nearby. She was with her family. Ideas?

To dream that you are at a graveyard, represents the discarded aspects of yourself. It is also a fear of the unknown. Alternative, it indicates a loss or a period of mourning.

Maybe homesickness? Is your friend separated from her family?

Your friend needs to think about that herself. Dreams are how our minds solve our problems subconciously while we sleep. Although you can look and find a definition for the symbolism, it's just going to be a definition that some guy/gal though up one day. Your friends dreams symbolism is unique to her and her alone. She has to look at the dream and think about what each detail makes her think, or how the dream made her feel. Is she afraid of tombstones, death? How did the fact that her family was there make her feel? Stuff like that.

I found this site that had some elements of your friends dream:

Tombstone: Legacy. Monument. Looking for recognition and ways to be remembered.

Sun: Life. Energy. Continuity. You are producing something worthy.

Family: Kin. Group. Prosperous times ahead.

It seems to me that she may be worried if her family will be doing well after she's gone, and her dreams are telling her not to worry. If she has kids then she might be worried about them remembering all the things she taught them, but again the dream is saying don't worry.

It might not actually stand for anything. Dreams don't make sense 100% of the time practically. Dreams don't always have to stand for something. And who is to tell us what dreams mean? Who can say that chased by a cow means you're going to break up? Who cany say that drunk driving means you're actually going to drunk drive? Who decides all that? Suckers for money, that's who.

It means that the pattern-recognition part of your brain took a bunch of random synapse firings from the rest of your brain and interpreted them as graveyards. That, or you've been thinking about graveyeards a lot.
