Where did this strange discolourment on my leg come from?

Well, in case I don't explain it well enough, here's a link to a photo of it: (don't worry, you just see flesh and the area, no nudity, nothing bad. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/mully/myleg...

It just.. appeared. It's just a section of non-raised redness (no bumps) a bit spread out, not all touching together, darker purple in the middle of some of the redness.

I haven't bumped anything, or been near anything I'm not usually. I haven't been doing anything differently. I eat healthy, I exercise 6 days a week.

I'm also 22, so, I'm hoping it's not the beginning of spider veins.

Any ideas on what it could be? (I don't need a cure, just curious as to what it is.)

Update:

PS: When you click the URL, it says the link is broken - but it's not. Take a look at the address bar, and get rid of the bracket on the end of the address!

It's the flesh-eating virus. Get your leg amputated immediately! J/K I get little patches of the same thing on occasion just under my armpits. I just apply a little Vaseline cream, and it clears up in a day or two. No pain, no itching or irration. Just a little strange.

I've had stuff like that on legs too and then it suddenly disappears...but u shd still show it to a doc as one person's problem can look the same but may be different on another...

don't worry about it though and get it checked n good luck!

You know, i've seen that on myself quite a few times, I have no clue what it is. It's probably harmless otherwise I wouldn't be here right now, lmao. Probably just an allergic reaction to something that part of the skin touched. Wanted to say thanks btw.

I think it looks kind of like a heat rash. I would try putting aloe vera on it.
