Late period - infertile or pregnant?

I've always had irregular periods. I got married a year ago, and it's still fluctuating but to date I'm not pregnant. Its now been 3 months since my last period. I had a pregnancy test a month ago, which came negative. How will I know, biologically, if I've gotten pregnant? Is there possibilities of conceiving, and then accidentally having an abortion due to intense work or stress? Is it possible too, to miss periods for 2 months, and then just in the 3rd, when I'm ovulating, to conceive? Sorry to be confusing, but I'm desperate to be enlightened!

The best way to find out is to get it checked at the doctor with a blood test as this is a more accurate method than a home test.

Perhaps you have had a false negative with the home test because your hCG level maybe have been too low for the test to register them. There are many reasons why the test could have had a negative result even though you might be pregnant.

If your period is irregular than missing a period probably isnt the best way determine whether or not you are pregnant.

    Most common signs are:

    Breast tenderness

    Headaches

    Morning Sickness

    Fatigue

    Bloating

However, these symptoms could be the result of a number of things.

if you miss a period it is very unlikely that you ovulated that cycle. you will be able to conceive only at the time of ovulation. the egg is good for 3 to 5 days and sperm can survive in your body for 5 days so sex 5 days prior to or after your ovulation day can result in pregnancy. to know when you ovulate you can chart your body temp (see 'billings method') Often the hormonal peak prior to ovulation results in harder, sore breasts although thats obviously not reliable.
