What's the difference between butter and margarine?

Butter is condensed and solidified cream - basically milkfat. It is made through a process of straining milk, churning, straining, drying, and maybe a little cooking.

Margarine is synthetic. One of the prime ingredients is partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. It used to be viewed as more healthy than butter, but now scientists are finding that partially hydrogenated anything is not so great, so people are starting to go back to butter and new synthetic spreads are being designed that primarily use pure vegetable oils like olive oil, containing monounsaturated fats, which can be a healthier and vegetarian option.

Margarine is made from hydrogenated vegetable oil, and so in no way resembles butter. Butter is churned from milk cream.

butter comes from milk........margarine is made with oil.......but i do prefer margarine to butter.
