It may be missing some codecs. I would download and install is again. It will install over the old version and repair any problems.

I just checked an AVI on Windows Media Player version 10 on my computer & it played fine.

Maybe the AVI you are trying to view is DivX encoded. You need to download their codec and/or media player from their website:

There is some problems with the codecs installed with your system. To solve this problem install Ace Mega Codec Pack. Its free.

only quicktime plays avi. if you want a universal player then go to dowload .com and look for videolan media player. its the bestt all round player
