    Tevere

    Btwn Lexington & 3rd Ave

I've lived in the city for 10 years and always wanted to try Tevere and finally did on Saturday night, March 12.

We arrived about 8:25 p.m. and the place was virtually empty. As the night progressed, the crowds arrived and the place filled.

The service was fine by ordinary standards and very good by kosher restaurant standards (I've generally found the service at kosher places in New York to be poor compared to nonkosher places). The food was very good. Two of us got the mixed grill of lamb chop, veal chop, and steak. My only complaint was that the lamb chop was too small. The quality of the food was fine. The third in our party got pasta with meat sauce which he pronounced excellent (he doesn't keep kosher at all, so this is by comparison to all sorts of Italian places).

We also got an appetizer of sweet breads that were on special. It's been years since I've eaten them and I had pretty much forgotten what they tasted like, but these were very fine. By the time the crowds arrived and the room filled, it was almost impossible to move between tables, and our chairs were touching the people behind us (typical service issue of kosher restuarant).

On the plus side, the place wasn't filled with screaming kids as is often the case at kosher places

Milos, but I thought they closed down, if it is the one in the east village... Correct me if I am wrong.
