Any thoughts on birth control and liver damage?

About 2 years ago I had a severe reaction to alcohol. After only 1 drink I felt like something was sitting on my chest. My breathing was labored and it seemed almost painful. I thougtht it was possibly a panic attack. I don't drink often so about 6 months after that I was celebrating a birthday of one of my friends and after a couple of drinks I had the same reaction but worse. I saw my Dr. and she said that my liver could possibly not be processing the alcohol. She said that it was too busy processing the birth control I was on. I have not been on birth control for almost 2 years and when I recently got married, I tried to drink wine. After two glasses I became ill and had the same symptoms. I never had this problem before I was on bc. Has anyone ever heard of a birth control causing liver damage?

Some studies have linked oral contraceptives with an increased risk of developing hepatomas (a benign liver growth). Typically, these are not considered life-threatening, but it is always a wise decision to consult with your primary care physician.
