    Gremlins!

Here is how to get rid of them...

Technological advances have gotten ahead of magic in many ways; there are few specific spells to protect modern machines. This is bad because gremlins just love machines. They get inside and cause all manner of mayhem. Gremlins are especially fond of appliances like washers and dryers, where they chew holes in your clothes, add inexplicable spots, and pilfer socks, leaving you with unmatched pairs.

To banish gremlins from your washer and dryer, first tie a long sock into three knots. Then add nine pinches of salt to the wash water. Wash and dry the load as usual.

When you take the clothes out of the dryer, check the sock. If all the knots are untied, then all the gremlins are gone; and if any of the knots remain, there are still some gremlins left. Repeat the charm as needed to banish any remaining gremlins.

you may not know this but there is such a thing as the laundry sock boogie man. you can put 1 pair of socks into the wash and stand waiting for the wash to end .when the door opens on the machine you will only find one sock. it is a phenomenon that is on a domestic level. i may make a film about this. There is a race of rats that have found a unique niche. They are near cousins to pack-rats, but they somehow have evolved the trick of being able to move in n dimensions. (N is an unknown variable, from 4 to infinity.) Anyway, socks are a major nest-building material for these rats. They find them excellent to raise large broods of little baby rats, peaking out of the holes in the toes.

So don't worry about your socks. They are wonderful homes for the baby n dimensional rats. (Any artists want to draw the pictures?)

laundry monsters, also known as sock trolls, are very common. there is a vortex in the back of every dryer that leads to one sock mountain, where the trolls live and play...they need the socks for food, clothing,etc...but they are wonderful friendly little creatures that would never take both socks...that would be selfish and just plain mean.

You appear to be suffering from a serious case of EVIL socks i would suggest some sort of exorcism. Its common knowledge that in every pair of socks there is one Good and one EVIL sock. The EVIL socks destroy the Good ones in the endless ongoing (sorry) 'battle of the socks'es'

Its simple u dont do a thorough job of making sure everything is out of the dryer so when the next person goes behinds u they end up with your missing socks!

They fall into alternate universes. This is a result of the universe not being keen on having identical objects in it. (This is also why your lottery numbers never come up, there is no way a universe such as ours would tolerate the exact same sequence, especially occuring in such close proximity)

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do, unless you can close all the tiny little holes in the universe- they can be detected by their tiny gravitational fluctuations- but be careful or they will throw you off balance and land you on your ****.

There is a little girl that lives inside the washing mechine and gobbels up all your socks. If you want them back you have to invade her home. You take out the agatator and there you will find the resadu of your socks. See she eats them.

Have you never heard of the laundry monster, he only eats one of the socks

They go to the sock planet. It's orbits the same star as the pen planet and the loose change planet.
