do you want booming bassor tight clean bass. your answer wil determine what is the best setup fo you. if you want booming bass you should go with 12'sor 15's in a bandpass setup. do not i reaeat do not try to build this box yourself, also do not get suckered in by the one box fits all best buy, circuit xity crap. have it built professionally after you choose your subs.
If you prefer tight clean sounding bass, i would suggest 10's or 12's in a sealed or slot ported box. here you might be able to build the box yourself it is a litte more forgiving of slight errors in craftsmanship. I would suggest going to JLaudio.com and reading their free tutorials to get a better understanding of what I am talking about

Of course everyone says 12s **** that your going to get alot better sound quality out of tens and it all depends on how you set the box up beings that its a hatchback i'd aim the woofers at the back window the sound rolls over the glass and into the front thats how i have mine and i've won awards so yea 10s are alot better not so easy to blow too

tens will slam and you dont lose any bpm the hz or only a little higher than 12 and the are more durable you also need to get i good box it could make the differance between thud and boooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm but also dont forget your mids and highs all these little boys with nothing but bass coming out of there car piss me off but if you get a good mix it sound great and get high qulity **** dont go to wallmart to buy your system get like audiobahn or alpine it will make a differance if sound quilty

If you want to be heard and want everybody to feel your system when you pull up behind them get to kicker comp 15' subs, they are cheap and will hit very hard,I recommend 15' subs to everybody because they can hit all different types and tones of bass,if you get really low bass it will make a 12' sub or a 10' sub distort.
