Dell 2400 motherboard suddenly quit?

I have a Dell 2400, 6 months old, turned one day and dead. After changing power supply, founf it was the motherboard. Anybody else have this problem, they say it is out of warranty, thought it was a year, but is the motherboard repairable?

Did you use a standard ATX power supply to test it? If you did it is most likely not compatible with the Dell motherboard, Dell does not use standard ATX power supplies or motherboards. So, if it wasn't already dead before you connected the new power supply, that probably killed it. Yes, I know the connector fit, trust me it wouldn't have worked with it.

As for the motherboard being repairable, nope, you'll either have to convince Dell to send you a new motherboard and power supply or go out and buy your own components and build your own system.

Call Dell Support. It should still be under warranty if it is only 6 months old. I would call and speak to the manager. Make sure you have your original papers and send a letter directly to Dell. Do not give up! Persistence pays off.

you might want to call dell technical support, try 18009993355, they may solve your problem, they need to know though when you bought your computer, and its serial #, there isnt much that you can do with your motherboard, since 2400's nowadays are obsolete, you can replace it, meaning you would have to buy again, but if your computers still under warranty, you might want to talk to a supervisor, and give all that is needed so they can trace your purchase and fix your problem. =)

Not really. If you know that you still have warranty with Dell, call them and have them repair it. If there is no warranty, just buy another motherboard.

    Good Luck!
