I'm a racist because I struggle to understand in a day. 1,000s of years of history, language, and cultures in other ethnic groups.

Society makes it real easy for us to misunderstand each other.

There's a shortage on teachers and a surplus on wars.

nah, I believe in logic. I grew up in something of an ethnic area, so I never had much of a chance to be racist. I was forced to judge people as they are and thats the only LOGICAL thing to do. My father was very much the opposite though, especially towards black people, but hes like sixty now and you know all about older guys. My mother would always tell me how wrong it was and I've agreed ever since I can remember. People seem to hang out with others of a smilar race or color or whatever and that sort of thing has its affect on subcounscious in everyones head. But as long as you dont have a problem hanging out with races other than your own than its not a problem right? I just never really understood it. Its hard to believe so many people can be that narrow minded but then look at our country...

Yes, I am racist. My two years in high school in New Jersey gave me my prejudice, and I recognized it was horrible to generalize like that so I worked really hard for three more years until I could safely say that I wasn't anymore. Then I had an extremely aggravating and upsetting experience last summer and I'm back to square one, working on it again. From what I can tell, it's a totally human, almost self-preservatory thing to be prejudiced, but that still doesn't make it acceptable to me.

As an African American I'd like to think I was above being racist, but recent close examination has shown me that I do have racist attitudes toward a certain group of people. I don't know where this comes from as I was not raised this way. It's something I'm working on correcting by spending time and getting to know people from this ethnic group.

I would like to say I'm not but I can't answer that truly. I am from a very small town (less than 700) and there are'nt any people of different race or culture here than white. I am teaching my kids that we are all the same just different colors of skin (like a box of crayons we are all pretty enough to color with). My mother always taught me to be nice to everyone so why wouldn't I be. Knowbody did anything to me.

  • No I am not racist because, i think that all humans are created equally important and shoudl be treated respectfully. I didn't have to be taught to feel this way towards opposite races.

Honestly I am not a racist, nomatter coz people who are close to me are franky talking about that they just cannot stand this or that race of people...

But here on internet, chatting, I get in situations when some people, ( who are in same culture ) always act the same way, come with same questions, and same ideas, and ways of understand the world around them that then I get a wrong picture of them, and with that a wrong picture of all thir culture and race...

i'm not racist. i do get irritated at people who blame their misfortune on other races though. my mom taught me people are people and if something is wrong with your life you had a hand in making it so. if you want change, you can't sit back and wait for it to happen. i get some of the dirtiest looks and treatment just because i'm white. an accident of nature shouldn't be a punishable offense.

No I am not racist. Unfortunately some people in my family are, and I think they taught me not to be. I have to say that people of every race make me angry though, but that's human nature and I think its impossible for everybody to get along.

For information on predjudice (a root of racism) , check out Malcolm Gladwell's book, "Blink". Human beings strive to connect experiences into patterns. We make all sort of decisions when meeting people or going places for the first time. This is called slicing - we slice and divide into familiar categories. Gladwell notes a site in the book where people can test themselves online to find out what their predjudices are. He states that if we dare to learn these things about ourselves, we can take steps to correct it. All people who are not trying to be perceived as ignorant hatemongers will say they are not predjudiced. But read the book, and take the test (I think it's by Stanford, or Harvard, maybe?) because you might surprise yourself. Gladwell found he had some negative views toward blacks... and he is black. See what you can learn about yourself, and work on changing what needs to be changed.

No I'm not a racist. I think that it is best to have

friends from all races and backgrounds. Because we

can learn so much from each other. We can experience

all different cultures of food, religon, ways of living

that you can't do if you only believe that your culture

    is the only right one.
