snail_graphiz explained it very good about Hong Kong. They only thing i miss in the Tibet answers is that nobody said that Tibet was a country. Before the Chinese entered Tibet, Tibet was a country with his own government and laws. It wasn't easy for foreigner to go in, because they didn't want the influences from outside. They wanted to keep their country pure and Buddhists.

In the 50's the communists attacked Tibet with a very cruel offensive. Killed and tortured many many monks, they even let the monks kill each other, because there Buddhists believe. They still "torture" many monks!!

After that "CHINA" said they are a part of china the world just accept this. If you want know the truth, Tibet is a COUNTRY what is occupied.

    He jack

if you read my tekst good i don't make tibet dirty and also not China, i just totally don't agree the Chinese government then and now. The way how they treat and treated people is just not right. If you read the other answers i gave to people you can see i had a great time in China. Tibet and China are beautiful and lovely places.

This all is MY OPINION and this is not just an opinion, but a opinion I made after talking, listening, reading and studying. In a democracy you are free to have your own opinion so also on yahoo, that is the beauty of life. So i DON'T SHUT UP!!

You are not the first chinese who is getting angry. I got more chinese who got angry if i didn't say taiwan and Tibet are China, but the people in Taiwan and Tibet have so their own opinion and thinking.

So who is right and who is wrong?

Place your e-mail address on this site,so people don't have to write back here, but give you a mail. Otherwise this look like a forum.

By the way, what is the point for asking my name?

Source(s): Traveled there, spoke to the monks and local people. Opened my eyes and ears.

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region within the People's Republic of China.

Therefore, Hong Kong is part of China, and not an independent country. Same goes for Macau.

Tibet is an Autonomous Region within China, but is viewed as a Province of the People's Republic of China.

Therefore, Tibet is part of China and not an independent country.

Hong Kong was British colony between 1898 and 1997, it is since part of China and is established as a Special Administrative Region (SAR)

Tibet is an autonomous province of China though some claimed it was independent and occuplied by China.

hi, i'm form hong kong n hope this help:

hong kong cannot be regarded as a country, but a city of china. Or, technically, it's a Special Administrative Region, so we now may sometimes call hk "HKSAR, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region".

We, here, have our own legal system which is different from those of China. Ours is called Basic Law. But, for sometimes (or seldom!), when some codes are not clear and when there's confusion, we need the Chinese Government to define the codes.

After the Opium Wars Hong Kong became a British colony. In 1997 Britian returned HK to China but they follow a one country, two systems policy. In HK they are very capitalistic and semi-democratic but in China they are offically communist.

Tibet is a special autonomous region in China. It is technically under the guise of Beijing. The Communist party has been trying to repress the Tibetians and their culture but they constantly protest. Even though Tibet is thousands of miles from Beijing, they are under the same time zone. This helps the government control the people.

Sharpshooter knows his stuff, Tibet is a western chinese region and Hong Kong is sort of like a province or a district.
