These people drive me crazy. They say that a happy employee is a productive employee. I am not a smiley either. I have had this problem in the past. Can u voice your opinion anywhere in your record ? One place I worked had a place where I could make a statement on the written evaluation. If your union file a grievance. I don't smile all the time because I am self conscious about my smile. My front teeth aren't straight, but no one should have to explain that to their boss to get a raise, when they are doing their job, If your doing your job properly it shouldn't matter what facial expression you are wearing unless you are scaring people. Now If you are customer service in a face to face setting I can see the point. But not in a factory.

Truthfully, it sounds like a baloney reason to me. The manager probably didn't want to give you a raise and just made up some insane reason.

I would smile more and then bring it up again the next month. If you still do not get that raise then maybe life is telling you "Hey baby! It's time to find a better job!." Then you go out, you look around and the next thing you know, you got a great job with a cool sexy boss that pays you what you're worth. Who knows? Life is funny that way. :)

That's good feedback, so maybe you can smile more.

But if you think about WHY they want you to smile, you could earn the respect of the boss (and possibly a raise or promotion).

Smiling probably makes other workers feel good, and this makes the workday more enjoyable. It could result in less absenteism, as well as higher productivity. Less turnover also, since people feel they belong.

Perhaps best of all, your smiling shows to everyone that the boss is doing a good job! The bigger and the more sincere your smile, the better your boss looks!

But for you, there is also the benefit of feeling better about your work.

    Good luck!

To be honest i dont think they never gave you a raise because you werent smiling enough!! Are you 100% sure that that is why you didnt get a raise? If your manager told you that then all you have to start doing is smiling and making your job fun!

Find a job where you are not required to smile to get promoted. Unless you are a clown or work at Chuck E Cheeses you should not be judged on your smile.

Did everyone else get a raise? Lots of factors are possibly effecting your raise. I'd say start smiling.

IS THERE A REASON WHY YOU CANT SMILE ? WERE THE BIG BOSSES AROUND AND A SMILE WOULD HAVE MADE THE LITTLE BOSS LOOK GOOD ? DID YOU KNOW THAT WHEN YOU'RE SMILING THE WHOLE WORLD SMILES WITH YOU ?
